There is a growing range of pet-friendly accommodation in Queensland, and indeed Australia, as more and more owners realise that dog-ownership is up ( more than even from COVID and lockdowns!) and people are wanting to have holidays and short breaks with their pets. In fact, pet-friendly accommodation Qld is some of the best around.

Places tend to book out quickly as there is still not enough to meet demand so try and book in advance if possible!

All of these charge a reasonable fee to accommodation your furry friend and provide things like bedding, food bowls and treats.

For a luxury escape set in bushland on the outskirts of the city Mt.Cotton Retreat rooms, cabins and even a cottage that is pet friendly and close to the award-winning Sirromet Winery.

Pet friendly accommodation Qld regional areas

There are now a number of great places across Queensland to have a break with your pet.

Within an hour from Brisbane, you can stay at Spicers Hidden Vale past Ipswich which has a pet-friendly cottage with a fenced courtyard, and one of the best restaurants in Queensland.

Pet-friendly Gold Coast

Pet-friendly accommodation on the Gold Coast is still quite hard to find. Only the QT Hotel in Surfers Paradise has embraced this initiative at the time of publication and is heavily booked as a result!

There are, however, private homes and apartments that are pet friendly on the Coast such as Reiki Spectacular House in Runaway Bay.

There is a great pet-friendly house in Southport that has 3 bedrooms and is very close to the Broadwater and all the things to see and do in the area including Queensland’s Theme Parks.

Timbertop for Life Homestay which is also popular, at the back of Burleigh Heads.

Dog beaches Gold Coast

    • Currumbin Creek – starting at Palm Beach Parklands and around the spit
    • Tallebudgera at Palm Beach on the creek. Park at the Tellebudgera Leisure Centre for easy access.
    • The Spit at Main Beach – ample parking and a kiosk and toilets with a patrolled beach.
    • Biggera Waters on Marine Parade with a footpath along the breakwater

Dog-friendly accommodation Sunshine Coast

Noosa pet-friendly accommodation is still fairly thin on the ground but there are a few places to check out. Lake Weyba Noosa Lodge is a beautiful old Queensland house on the lake south of Noosa that can sleep 6 while L’Auberge@Noosa in Noosa Heads is popular with couples and is a very romantic spot.

Pet-friendly accommodation in the Sunshine Coast hinterland includes the lovely Avalon Farm Cottages in Pomona and the Eumundi Yacht Club which have a selection of beautifully appointed cabins and cottages around a lake, including a house-boat.

We’ve also had a lovely stay with our puppy at The Little Red Rail Carriage in Eumundi, a beautifully converted train carriage in a quiet, tranquil space only a short stroll to town.

Pet-friendly accommodation Hervey Bay

Hervey Bay is a popular place for visitors and is the main departure point for Fraser Island. It is especially popular between May and October when it is Whale Watching season.

A great place to stay with pets in Hervey Bay is Grange Resort which is centrally located and has one, two and three-bedroom pet-friendly apartments that are great for families and groups.

There is also a great holiday house called Sandy Footprints right on the Northern part of the Esplanade with views over the bay and Fraser Island.

Pet-friendly accommodation Cairns

In Cairns, it’s hard to beat the beachfront location and the amenities at Cairns Northern Beaches Holiday Retreat at Clifton Beach, or Treetops Retreat in the rainforest, both of which are pet friendly.

Further afield check out Lilly Pilly House in Atherton and Riversong Retreat in Millaa Millaa for the Atherton Tablelands or Pink Flamingo Resort for Port Douglas.

If you’re after something a little more private and self-contained there is a fantastic apartment in Port Douglas right in the heart of town with amazing views or a gorgeous 3 bedroom cottage in Palm Cove, just a short stroll to the beach and restuarants.
