There is a growing range of pet-friendly accommodation in Queensland, and indeed Australia, as more and more owners realise that dog-ownership is up ( more than even from COVID and lockdowns!) and people are wanting to have holidays and short breaks with their pets. In fact, pet-friendly accommodation Qld is some of the best around.
Places tend to book out quickly as there is still not enough to meet demand so try and book in advance if possible!

Pet friendly accommodation Brisbane
Visitors to Brisbane now have some great places to stay with their pets.
All of these charge a reasonable fee to accommodation your furry friend and provide things like bedding, food bowls and treats.
Ocean View Estate also have dog-friendly accommodation in the North-west Hinterland of Brisbane as well as a restaurant and cellar door.
Pet friendly accommodation Qld regional areas
There are now a number of great places across Queensland to have a break with your pet.
Within an hour from Brisbane, you can stay at Spicers Hidden Vale past Ipswich which has a pet-friendly cottage with a fenced courtyard, and one of the best restaurants in Queensland.
Pet-friendly Gold Coast
Pet-friendly accommodation on the Gold Coast is still quite hard to find. Only the QT Hotel in Surfers Paradise has embraced this initiative at the time of publication and is heavily booked as a result!
There are, however, private homes and apartments that are pet friendly on the Coast such as Reiki Spectacular House in Runaway Bay.
There is a great pet-friendly house in Southport that has 3 bedrooms and is very close to the Broadwater and all the things to see and do in the area including Queensland’s Theme Parks.
Timbertop for Life Homestay which is also popular, at the back of Burleigh Heads.
Dog beaches Gold Coast
- Currumbin Creek – starting at Palm Beach Parklands and around the spit
- Tallebudgera at Palm Beach on the creek. Park at the Tellebudgera Leisure Centre for easy access.
- The Spit at Main Beach – ample parking and a kiosk and toilets with a patrolled beach.
- Biggera Waters on Marine Parade with a footpath along the breakwater
Dog-friendly accommodation Sunshine Coast
Noosa pet-friendly accommodation is still fairly thin on the ground but there are a few places to check out. Lake Weyba Noosa Lodge is a beautiful old Queensland house on the lake south of Noosa that can sleep 6 while L’Auberge@Noosa in Noosa Heads is popular with couples and is a very romantic spot.
Pet-friendly accommodation in the Sunshine Coast hinterland includes the lovely Avalon Farm Cottages in Pomona and the Eumundi Yacht Club which have a selection of beautifully appointed cabins and cottages around a lake, including a house-boat.
We’ve also had a lovely stay with our puppy at The Little Red Rail Carriage in Eumundi, a beautifully converted train carriage in a quiet, tranquil space only a short stroll to town.
Pet-friendly accommodation Hervey Bay
Hervey Bay is a popular place for visitors and is the main departure point for Fraser Island. It is especially popular between May and October when it is Whale Watching season.
A great place to stay with pets in Hervey Bay is Grange Resort which is centrally located and has one, two and three-bedroom pet-friendly apartments that are great for families and groups.
There is also a great holiday house called Sandy Footprints right on the Northern part of the Esplanade with views over the bay and Fraser Island.
Pet-friendly accommodation Cairns
In Cairns, it’s hard to beat the beachfront location and the amenities at Cairns Northern Beaches Holiday Retreat at Clifton Beach, or Treetops Retreat in the rainforest, both of which are pet friendly.
If you’re after something a little more private and self-contained there is a fantastic apartment in Port Douglas right in the heart of town with amazing views or a gorgeous 3 bedroom cottage in Palm Cove, just a short stroll to the beach and restuarants.

Pet friendly Caravan Parks QLD
Esk Caravan Park and Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Motel is only 1 hour northwest of Brisbane on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. It’s close to shops, restaurants, a pub, cafe’s & a hospital. They offer self-contained cabins, large powered sites and unpowered campsites as well as a swimming pool.
Kirra Beach Tourist Park have pet friendly cabin accommodation and powered sites. There is an on-site saltwater pool (heated during winter) and great facilities including a children’s play area and free wireless internet.
BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park is set on 32 acres with a huge resort pool, massive water park & licensed cafe. They offer en-suite, powered, unpowered & BIG RIG sites. Close to the Gold Coast theme parks kids will enjoy monster pedal bikes, a foot pool and a remote control car track.
On the Sunshine Coast, Mudjimba Beach Holiday Park allows up to 2 dogs per van, upon application. It is located right near the beach and the river so there’s heaps to do in the area.
Just south of Yepoon on the Capricorn Coast Fisherman’s Beach Holiday Park have enuited pet-friendly cabins that can sleep 4 people and is right on the beach. They also have d0g-friendly powered and unpowered sites too. Just north of there is Kinka Beach Island View Caravan Park with similar amenities.
Windmill Caravan Park in Hervey Bay is walking distance to the beach, shops, jetty, Sportsman’s Club and Botanic Gardens. They offer 2 Bedroom villas, a disabled cabin and dorm-style accommodation and is a great base to go whale watching or visit Fraser Island.
Wangaratta Caravan Park in Bowen has 87 shady powered sites, surrounded by golf course, beachfront & parkland. This park offers the best in fun & relaxation. Modern laundry, disabled facilities. Short walk to the beach, playground, golf, bowls, tennis, theatre, TAB & hotel services.
Kurramine Beach Holiday Park is just 90 minutes south of Cairns and is just 70m to unspoilt palm-fringed beach with King Reef and Dunk Island just offshore. Fishing, kayaking, numerous waterfalls, rainforests, a canopy walk, white water rafting and boat ramp, creek & pub are all nearby as is a boat ramp and pub with a licensed cafe and bar on site. There is a big swimming pool, water park, inflatables and a playground. Close to fascinating Paronella Park which should not be missed but is not pet friendly.
Most of these caravan parks have dog-washes!
